Movers and Shakers
• In a Tri-River Athletic Conference dual last Wednesday night, #3 Clovis routed Clovis West 52-13 winning eleven bouts to extended their dual meet winning streak versus California opponents to 84! At 126, Clovis’ Khristian Olivas decisioned #18 Michael Knoblauch 12-6 in convincing fashion between two of the top grapplers in the Golden State. The Cougars followed up by dominating the TRAC individual championships at Buchanan with eleven finalists, which included seven champions.

• The Oklahoma 6A dual state championships featured three teams ranked in the top fifteen in the nation with #11 Broken Arrow earning the title after a dramatic come-from-behind win in the semifinal over #15 Edmond North 33-32. The dual started at 170 and Edmond North stormed out to a 29-0 lead heading into 113. Broken Arrow won the next seven macthes and in the final bout at 160, Edmond North’s Zack Walton nearly pinned Broken Arrow’s Braxton Owen but Owen clinched the dual victory by only surrendering three team points in his 10-3 loss by decision. In the final against #13 Stillwater, Broken Arrow won 29-24 and was highlighted by Zack Edwards upset victory over #11 Kaid Brock 4-3 at 132. It was Broken Arrow’s first dual state championship since 2011 and easily the most dramatic in school history.

• #9 Bergen Catholic defeated #25 Don Bosco Prep 33-18 to win North Jersey, Non-Public A section title. The Crusaders won eight bouts and were back to full-strength with state-ranked 152 Joe Grello returning to the lineup after missing over a month due to a knee injury.

This Week At A Glance
• Lehigh University hosts the National Prep Championships that will feature #1 Blair Academy and #6 Wyoming Seminary. This may be Seminary’s best opportunity to unseat Blair Academy (33 consecutive titles), as they add two postgraduates to their lineup: 170 Ty White and returning champion 182 Nicky Hall.

• Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines will host Iowa’s state duals on Wednesday with the quarterfinals set to begin the action in class 1A, 2A, and 3A. Bettendorf is the top seed and will most likely face the winner of Cedar Rapids Prairie/Linn-Mar in the one semifinal. Second seeded Southeast Polk will likely face Waverly-Shell Rock in the other semi in Class 3A. The Individual tournament will follow the day after in all three classes, as well.

• Michigan conducts their state duals with the D1 anticipated final being #16 Detroit Catholic Central versus Davison. In D2, prohibitive favorites #14 Lowell and St. Johns should end up meeting for the championship.

• Illinois has their individual state tournament this weekend. #18 Montini Catholic is the overwhelming favorite in 2A while #2 Oak Park-River Forest will be tested by #19 Marist and Marmion Academy in 3A.
