Buckeyes win seven of 10 weight classes; face Kent State in quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Sunday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13 Ohio State wrestling team topped Hofstra, 29-10, in the preliminary round of the 2014 EAS Sports and Nutrition
NWCA National Duals Sunday in St. John Arena. With the win, Ohio State improves 10-4 overall (4-4 Big Ten).
The Buckeyes are serving as hosts of the 2014 NWCA National Duals in St. John Arena Sunday-Monday. For more information, including how to purchase tickets, click on the Tournament Central page

The Buckeyes kicked off the event with a 17-0 lead, starting with the 125-pound weight class. Redshirt freshman
Nick Roberts recorded a 5-2 decision over No. 17 Jamie Franco. Ohio State followed with three more win in the 133, 141 and 149 weight classes.
No. 9 Johnni DiJulius of the 133-weight class won his match by a forfeit and No. 3
Logan Stieber of the 141-weight class downed No.11 Luke Vaith with a 16-1 technical fall. Ohio State redshirt senior and No. 20
Ian Paddock of the 149-weight class was forced into sudden victory, but topped Cody Ruggirello, 5-3, in the extra session.
The 157, 165 and 174 weight classes all suffered losses. Redshirt junior
Randy Languis dropped a 7-5 decision to Jahlani Callender
followed by senior Joe Grandominico of the 165-weight class by a 10-4 decision to No. 15 Joseph Booth. Sophomore
Jacob Bresciani fell to Frank Affronti, 13-2 by a major decision in the 174-weight class.
The Buckeyes went on to win the last three matches in the 184, 197 and heavyweight classes. No.11 Redshirt sophomore
Kenny Courts topped Victor Pozsonyi with a 10-3 decision and No. 8 Redshirt senior
Nick Heflin pinned Zeal McGrew :59 seconds.

Nick Tavanello class closed out the match for the Buckeyes with a 3-1 decision over Michael Hughes.
The Buckeyes will return to action at 7 p.m. Sunday to take on Kent State in the quarterfinals.
