Cal Poly Falls to Stanford, South Dakota State in Triangular Meet at Mott Athletics Center
-- Cal Poly Wrestling --

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Senior Britain Longmire was the lone Cal Poly wrestler to win both of his matches as the Mustangs fell 31-10 to South Dakota State and 24-9 to Stanford in a triangular meet Sunday afternoon in the Mott Athletics Center.

Longmire was an 8-2 winner over Ben Gillette of South Dakota State in his first match, then earned a 3-2 decision on riding time over Tommy Pawelski of Stanford, raising his record for the season to 13-12.

South Dakota State utilized a fall, a technical fall, two major decisions and an injury default to defeat the Mustangs.

In addition to Longmire, Sean Dougherty at 184 pounds and Devon Lotito at 133 earned victories for Cal Poly against the Jackrabbits.

Dougherty (pictured at right) earned a 16-3 major decision over Brady Ayers to improve to 11-10 on the year while Lotito nearly scored his fourth fall in his last five matches, settling for an 11-4 decision over Isaac Andrade.

Mustang 174-pounder Dominic Kastl injured his shoulder in the first period and defaulted his match to John Nething II.

Victor Trujillo at 141 pounds and Nicolas Johnson at 197 were Cal Poly winners against Stanford.

Trujillo scored a first-period takedown and three-point near fall en route to a 9-2 decision over Peter Russo while Johnson scored a 3-1 sudden victory win over Michael Sojka with a takedown in overtime.

Feature match was at 133 with Cal Poly sophomore Devon Lotito, ranked 18th in the nation, facing No. 10 Ryan Mango of Stanford. Mango snapped a 2-2 tie with a takedown with 30 seconds remaining to edge Lotito 4-3.

Lotito, the defending Pac-12 champion at 133 pounds, is 19-8 for the season while Mango, a redshirt a year ago after capturing the Pac-12 title at 125 in 2012, is 24-3. Mango is a two-time NCAA All-American, and three-time national qualifier.

Stanford rallied from an early 8-0 deficit to beat South Dakota State (4-7) 20-14 in the second dual of the day.

Cal Poly drops to 3-8 with the pair of losses while Stanford is 17-4 and South Dakota State 4-7.

Coach Brendan Buckley's Mustangs wrestle their final dual meet of the season Friday night, hosting Arizona State for Homecoming at 7 p.m. in the Mott Athletics Center. The 1973-74 Mustang wrestling team, which captured an NCAA Division II national championship, will be honored.
