The American University wrestling team won five matches but it was not enough as Bucknell was able to earn a 21-18 victory in the dual on Friday night in Lewisburg, Pa.

"Tonight was a tough loss," said Head Coach Teague Moore. "But as a team we were able to wrestle hard in a lot of positions."

No. 11 David Terao extended his win streak to nine straight matches with an 8-3 decision at 125 lbs. to open the night. Esteban Gomez-Rivera dropped a 3-2 decision at 133 lbs. to Grim Gonzalez but Spencer Slishman was able to put the Eagles back on top in the dual with a 3-2 decision over Connor Lapresi.

The dual continued to go back and forth as John Boyle picked up an 8-3 decision at 157 lbs. and Keithen Cast earned a 9-2 decision over Joey Krulock at 174 lbs. to tie the team score at 12-all. Jason Grimes registered his first career fall to give American an 18-12 lead, pinning Rory Bonner in 1:42. 

An injury default by the Eagles at 197 lbs. tied the dual up again at 18 and Joe Stolfi secured the win for the Bison with a 5-0 decision over Blake Herrin at heavyweight.

"I'm very happy for Spencer, that match was won on heart," said Moore. "Jason came through with a fall with the team needed it and that's great for a freshman to be able to accomplish." 

American returns to Bender Arena on Saturday, Feb. 8 to host Navy at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.
