Series History: Purdue vs. Indiana
• In their 99th all-time meeting, Purdue will be seeking its fourth straight dual victory over intrastate rival Indiana and 17th on the Hoosiers' home mat. Even though the Hoosiers own the series record at 62-34-3, the Boilermakers own a 4-2 edge under the
guidance of head coach Scott Hinkel.
• The Boilermakers took six bouts, including two by forfeit, en route to a 28-13 win last year in West Lafayette. In their last trip to Bloomington on Feb. 5, 2012, Purdue etched
out a 19-16 victory.
• Purdue's probable starters own a 8-6 mark on Indiana's probable starters in head-to-head matches dating back to the 2011-12 season. There have already been a handful of meetings
this year as both teams were at the Michigan State Open and Midlands, most notably at 149 pounds. Alex
Griffin defeated Eric Roach twice via major decision this season and Brandon
Nelsen has split two tight matches with the 149-pounder.
Scouting the Hoosiers
• Indiana has dropped its last five duals, all in Big Ten action. In their last time out, the Hoosiers suffered a 23-12 loss to then-No. 18 Wisconsin in Memorial Gym, just their second loss on their home mat. They were victorious at three weights, including
then-No. 4 Adam Chalfant's 1:53 pin of then-No. 10 Connor Medberry at 285. For the second time in as many seasons, 125-pounder Alonzo Sheperd gave up his redshirt to make his first dual start and posted a 4-1 decision.
• Redshirt junior and seventh-ranked Taylor Walsh (157) has already set the single-season record for pins in a season with 23, which is also tops across all DI wrestlers.

*Ohio State hosts Michigan Friday, post-press; all records do not include results from that dual.
Series History: Purdue vs. Ohio State
• Monday's LIVE BTN showdown will be the 81st meeting between the two programs. Ohio State leads the series 49-25-6 and has won the last five duals, including a 27-10 win in Columbus in the last meeting (1/12/12). The last win for the Boilermakers in the series
came on their home mat, 19-15, on Feb. 10, 2006. A dozen of Purdue's victories have occurred when wrestling at home.
• Danny Sabatello (141), Brandon
Nelsen (149) and Braden Atwood (197)
are projected for a rematch with Logan Stieber, Ian Paddock and Nick Heflin, respectively. Each of the Buckeye grapplers defeated their Purdue opponent while wrestling at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational in early December.
Scouting the Buckeyes
• Four of Ohio State's probable starters own a winning record in Big Ten action: Johnni DiJulius (133), Logan Stieber (141), Kenny Courts (184) and Nick Heflin (197). In contrast, Randy Languis (157) and Joe Grandominico (165) are 0-5.
• The Buckeyes have had the same outcome as Purdue in three common opponent duals. They defeated Duke 25-10 and fell to Penn State (31-6) and Nebraska (28-12). Both Purdue and Ohio State dropped the 157-pound match against Duke, but both took the 133-pound
match from Penn State and were victorious at 141 and 197 against Nebraska.

Up Next for the Boilermakers
• Seniors Camden Eppert, Kyle
Mosier, Cashé Quiroga and Alex
White will be recognized as they make their final appearance in Holloway Gymnasium with the Boilermakers hosting No. 17 Illinois Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. The dual against the Illini closes out the home slate of
the 2013-14 campaign.
Make Note
• After wrestling the first 21 matches of his Purdue career at 149 for a record of 15-6, including two dual appearances, redshirt freshman Alex
Griffin made his debut in the lineup at 157 versus Nebraska.
• Cashé Quiroga picked up his 70th career win with a 13-7 decision over Ashland's Michael Labry on Jan. 19. Midway through his final campaign, Quiroga sports a record of 70-30.
• Braden Atwood's 3-1 decision of then-No. 20 Caleb Kolb brought him within two of his 70th career victory.
• A pair of grapplers are eyeing the 60-win plateau. Redshirt junior Brandon
Nelsen is one win away, while redshirt senior
Camden Eppert is two shy.
• Alex White reached the 40-win mark at 285 with a thrilling 7-4 tiebreaker decision of Tyler Houska of Ashland on Jan. 19.
• Brandon Nelsen is 2-0 in sudden victory matches this season. Danny
Sabatello has needed extra time in three of his matches and has emerged victorious twice. Purdue wrestlers are a combined 12-8 in sudden victory or tie-breaker matches.
• Earning back points is a regular occurrence for Sabatello. The 141-pounder leads the way among starters with nine two-point nearfalls and five three-point nearfalls for 33 back
points. Quiroga is second behind Sabatello with 23 back points.
• Five Boilermakers have reached the century mark in career takedowns: Quiroga (347), Eppert (150), Sabatello (110), Nelsen (109) and Atwood (101).
• Of the 154 wins accumulated by Purdue grapplers thus far, 56 have resulted in bonus points (34 falls, 7 TF, 29 MD). The Boilermakers win with bonus points 36 percent of the time
they step on the mat.
• Fourteen of the 34 falls by the Boilermakers have occurred in the first period, a dozen in the second and seven have come in the final two minutes.
In the Polls
• Nine Purdue grapplers have made at least one appearance in one of five national polls (Amateur Wrestling News, D1CW, Gregg Henry's/WrestlingReport DI Rankings, InterMat and W.I.N. Magazine) this season. This week, four Boilermakers are scattered throughout
the polls. Refer to pages 7-9 to see the all the week-by-week rankings.
• Cashé Quiroga returned to all five polls the week of Jan. 13 after making his season debut in mid-December. The 133-pounder catapulted into the top-20 and has been there for three
weeks now. He has been listed as high as 12th in the Gregg Henry's/WrestlingReport DI Rankings and 13th by Amateur Wrestling News and D1CW. Quiroga slipped a few spots after his loss to Shawn Nagel of Nebraska, but remains among the top 15-18 at 133.
• Danny Sabatello has spent 11 weeks among the top-33 141-pounders on the Gregg Henry's/WrestlingReport DI Ranking and has steadily improved his position. The redshirt sophomore
first appeared at No. 32 on Nov. 11. For the past five weeks, he has become a mainstay in the top 25. This week he matches his highest ranking on the poll at No. 22. D1CW took notice to Sabatello four weeks ago, where he has bounced back and fourth between
Nos. 21 and 20. For a second time, he is tabbed No. 20.
• This week Brandon Nelsen obtains
his highest spot in five weeks on the 149-pound Gregg Henry's/WrestlingReport DI Rankings at No. 24, a jump of four spots from last week.
• Braden Atwood has been ranked for 23 consecutive weeks at 197 pounds on all five outlets dating back to the 2012-13 preseason editions. The 197-pounder obtains his highest ranking
of the season at No. 10 on the Gregg Henry's/WrestlingReport DI Rankings and D1CW this week. InterMat also bumped him up one spot to No. 14.
• Quiroga, Sabatello and Atwood each earned a spot on the first edition of the NCAA Division I Wrestling Coaches Top-33 Rankings released Jan. 23. Quiroga checked in at No. 12,
Sabatello at No. 21 and Atwood at No. 12. The second of the three rankings will released following the Feb. 11 close date. The final ranking on Feb. 25 will be the coaches ranking that will be used by the NCAA Wrestling Committee to assist in determining the
advance allocations to each qualifying tournament, as well as being used as an important element of the selection criteria during the in-person selection meeting.
• Purdue grapplers are a combined 9-54 against ranked opponents this season. Atwood has faced the most ranked opponents of any Purdue wrestler this season, taking on 10 top-25 grapplers,
to which he owns a 5-5 mark. Quiroga has a pair of wins over ranked opponents, while Sabatello and Chad
Welch each have one.
