Series History: Purdue vs. Nebraska
• A decade had passed since Purdue and Nebraska faced each other, but the series was rejuvenated in 2012 during the Huskers inaugural season as a member of the Big Ten. The Boilermakers made their first-ever trip to Lincoln on Jan. 22, 2012, suffering a 24-9 loss to the seventh-ranked Huskers. Camden Eppert and Cashé Quiroga recorded two of the three wins for Purdue.

• Sunday's dual marks the eighth all-time meeting between the two programs, with Nebraska leading the series 6-1. Purdue's win came in West Lafayette on Feb. 16, 1985, 33-9.

• Although both teams were in action at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational in early December, Sunday will be the first time any Husker and Boilermaker have met on the mat this season. There have been seven previous meetings between the probable starters. Braden Atwood is 2-0 all-time against Caleb Kolb. Last season he took a 2-1 decision at Midlands and posted a 4-0 shutout at the Big Ten Championships.

Scouting the Huskers
• The Huskers enter Sunday's dual on the second half of a Big Ten swing after wrestling at No. 11 Ohio State on Friday. They will take an 8-1, 2-1 Big Ten record into Columbus for their first dual away from the Devaney Center since November. Nebraska was dealt a 22-9 blow by then-No. 3 Iowa at home for its first league loss in its last outing on Jan. 18.

• In the loss to the Hawkeyes, 157-pounder James Green brought Iowa's defending national champion Derek St. John's 27-match winning streak to a halt with a 9-7 decision. The win catapulted the third-ranked junior, who has taken down five ranked opponents, into the top spot on the 157-pound poll.

• Robert Kokesh (174) and Green (157) appear at Nos. 5 and 7, respectively, in the NCAA's initial standings for the 2014 NCAA Most Dominant Wrestler Award released Wednesday. Kokesh sports a 24-1 mark and has won eight bouts by fall, six by major decision, three by tech fall and has received a pair of forfeits to tally 4.381 points in the Most Dominant Wrestler standings. Undefeated at 22-0, Green has registered four pins, three technical falls and five major decisions for 4.2 points.

• The Most Dominant Wrestler standings are calculated by adding the total number of points awarded through match results and dividing that number by the total number of matches wrestled. A minimum of 13 matches are required to be eligible for the Most Dominate Wrestler standings. Points awarded per match are as follows:

• Fall, forfeit, injury default or DQ = 6 points (-6 points for a loss)
• Tech falls = 5 points (-5 points for a loss)
• Major decision = 4 points (-4 points for a loss)
• Decision = 3 points (-3 points for a loss)

Up Next for the Boilermakers
• In their 99th all-time meeting, Purdue will be seeking its fourth straight dual victory over intrastate rival Indiana at 7 p.m. on Jan. 31. Even though the Hoosiers own the series record at 62-34-3, the Boilermakers own a 4-2 edge under the guidance of head coach Scott Hinkel. The Big Ten Digital Network will stream the dual live from University Gym.

Last Time Out: No. 22 Purdue Powers Past Northern Illinois, Ashland
• The No. 22 Purdue wrestling team powered past Northern Illinois and Ashland at the Wendy's Duals hosted by Ashland in Kates Gymnasium Sunday. The Boilermakers won 17 of 20 contested bouts, 11 of which resulted in bonus points, en route to a 26-11 win over Northern Illinois, followed by a 48-0 blanking of Ashland to improve to 5-4, 0-4 Big Ten.

• The 48-0 shutout of the Eagles is the first shutout since the Boilermakers blanked Iowa Western on 42-(-1) on Dec. 16, 2012. It also marked the first time they've scored over 40 points since that 42-(-1) win.

• Purdue grapplers tallied six pins, three major decisions and a technical fall and received a forfeit in Sunday's action. Double bonus point winners included 174-pounder Patrick Kissel and No. 13/15 Braden Atwood at 197.

Make Note
• Cashé Quiroga picked up his 70th career win with a 13-7 decision over Ashland's Michael Labry on Jan. 19. His probable match against Shawn Nagel of Nebraska will be the 100th in a Purdue singlet. Midway through his final campaign, Quiroga sports a record of 70-29.

• Braden Atwood's 59-second pin of Ashland's Canale on Jan. 19 was his 100th outing as a Boilermaker. At 67-33, the redshirt junior is closing in on his 70th career victory.

• A pair of grapplers are eyeing the 60-win plateau. Redshirt junior Brandon Nelsen is one win away, while redshirt senior Camden Eppert is two shy.

• Alex White reached the 40-win mark at 285 with a thrilling 7-4 tiebreaker decision of Tyler Houska of Ashland in his last outing.

• Brandon Nelsen is 2-0 in sudden victory matches this season. Danny Sabatello has needed extra time in three of his matches and has emerged victorious twice. Purdue wrestlers are a combined 12-8 in sudden victory or tie-breaker matches.

• Earning back points is a regular occurrence for Sabatello. The 141-pounder leads the way among starters with nine two-point nearfalls and a trio of three-point nearfalls for 30 back points. Atwood is second behind Sabatello with 19 back points.

• Five Boilermakers have reached the century mark in career takedowns: Quiroga (345), Eppert (150), Sabatello (109), Nelsen (109) and Atwood (100).

• Of the 152 wins accumulated by Purdue grapplers thus far, 55 have resulted in bonus points (33 falls, 7 TF, 29 MD). The Boilermakers win with bonus points 36 percent of the time they step on the mat.

• Fourteen of the 33 falls by the Boilermakers have occurred in the first period, a dozen in the second and six have come in the final two minutes.
