Movers & Shakers
• Graham jumps from preseason #8 to the #3 spot this week after placing seven at Ironman. Though they did score more points than OPRF, the Huskies from Illinois stay at #2 because of their overall depth and a balanced lineup of fourteen solid wrestlers. Both Graham and OPRF placed the same amount of competitors at Ironman. Looking at it more closely, Graham’s seven placers had an average placement of 3.2 compared to OPRF’s 4.7, which is a one and half higher placement of the seven each team had. In a dual meet, Graham struggles from 182 through 285 and has no value at 152.

• Archbishop Moeller’s football team had such a successful season that it hurt their wrestling team at Ironman and will not showcase their full lineup until The Clash after the New Year. They were missed big points at 170 (Dean Meyer), 182 (Dakota Sizemore), 195 (Quinton Rosser), and a likely finalist at 285 (Chalmer Frueauf). They get dinged this week and it is a wait and see approach until they are all-systems-go in Rochester, MN.

• To be frank, from #11 Edmond North to #20 Brecksville, it is a crapshoot. Edmond North had a forth place finish at Ironman with five place winners and missed out on a placement from arguably the best Dixon triplet, Andrew, at 220.

• Detroit Central Catholic lost to Davison and St. Johns, but it should be taken with a grain of salt. They were without 125 Trevor Zdebski for both duals and Drew Garcia did not compete versus St. Johns, but was in for the Davison dual. In a NFHS weight class format, DCC is tougher than Davison, who does not have the upper weight prowess and that will be judged when they go to Ohio and compete in the Brecksville Holiday Tournament after Christmas.

• Brecksville drops seven spots after a spotty showing at Ironman, though they did beat Claymont in a dual the previous weekend, which showed the team they truly can be. The Beast of the East will be a true telltale sign of what they are if they can bounce back and finish admirably. They are a better team than their Ironman result plain and simple.

• Finally, Franklin Regional will get a final judgement on Devin Brown’s season this week when the PIAA holds their appeal meeting. Also, state champion Tyler Smith will be inserted at 132 for PowerAde and will compete the rest of the season at that weight, which is a huge boost for their lineup.
