Three Lehigh University wrestlers: Mitch Minotti, Laike Gardner and Mason Beckman, are in Ajinmoto learning and working out at Japan's National Training Center. They will be providing a daily blog to FLO documenting their trip and experiences. It all began from JFK airport in New York to Seattle to Tokyo-Haneda Airport.

August 11th - Kusatsu Camp, Day 2 (by Laike)

Today was day two of the Kusatsu Camp. Almost a week into our trip, our legs are sore and our bodies ache quite a bit, but if we've learned one thing whilst over here it's that our bodies will go far beyond what our minds say they will, so we sucked it up and got after it again today. We have a barbeque tomorrow afternoon, though, so that will be a welcome break from the practice schedule! The word going around the camp is that the food at this barbeque is top notch, so we're pretty excited about that as well.

This morning started at a manageable 7:30 AM. We got our running shoes on and headed to the front of the building we're staying in. There we met up with the rest of the wrestlers and headed off on our scenic warm-up jog. Following this we did five laps on a trail, which was shaded (thankfully). Thinking back, the three of us were thrilled about that part. When we finished our run we headed to a nearby baseball field to do some sprints. We did various sprints and exercises before heading back. Our morning run took about an hour and a half. When we got back we had 7 hours until the start of our 4 p.m. practice so, naturally, we took a nap.

Tonight's wrestling workout was roughly 2 hours. Of the two hours about 1:15 was live wrestling. We did 30 minutes of wrestling with a 3 man group where if you got a takedown you stayed in. I don't think Mason came out once! The rest of the live was either one-minute goes on our feet or par-terre. After we finished with live wrestling, Kenichi Yumoto (2008 Olympic Bronze medalist at 60kg freestyle) went through some of the finer points of defending a single leg. We drilled the technique that he showed for about ten minutes and called it a day. We then showered up and grabbed some dinner before laying down to rest for the night in preparation for whatever tomorrow may bring.

Thoughts:

 - They split up the Greco and Freestyle practices. I wish we went first because it was really hot as soon as we got in there.
 - Mason has a really messed up flight plan home.
 - Super excited for the BBQ tomorrow!!
 - Fantasy football players watch out! Mitch and I are doing some mock drafts to prepare and they are looking pretty good.
