174: #1-Chris Perry (Okie St.) dec #2-Matt Brown (Penn St.), 2-1 OT
1st Period: Brown active early, Perry defensive. Only one serious shot. Scoreless.

2nd Period: Brown starts down. Escapes in :03. Slick low single on edge for Perry eventually stuffed by Brown. Deep HI-C by Brown but time expired.

3rd Period: Perry starts down trailing 1-0. E1 after :08. Not much action. Brown moving forward. Stalling warning on Perry with :15 left.

Overtime 1: Long time out to fix Perry's headgear. Scoreless.

Tiebreak 1: Brown starts down. Perry rides out.

Tiebreak 2: Perry down. Perry out right away. Takes a shot and holds on to eat up clock. Perry is your champ!

Team Race: OSU takes a 1pt lead. Ladies and Gentleman, the team race is on!


184:  #1-Ed Ruth (PSU) md. #3-Robert Hamlin (LEH), 12-4
1st Period: Early low single for Ruth. When bracking Hamlin back down, he was called for locked hands. Interesting decision by Ruth to opt for the ride. 2-1 with 2:33 RT.

2nd Period: Ruth takes down. Out in seven seconds. Outside single for Ruth scores with :15 left. 5-1 RT at 2:42

3rd Period: Hamiln goes underneath. Hamlin gets out with 1:10. RT locked. Ruth with a slick counter and cuts Hamlin 7-3. Two takedown in the last :30 to get the MD.

Team Race: With a point bonus for the major, PSU goes up by 4. OK State can only tie unless Oliver gets bonus.


197: #2-Quentin Wright (Penn St.) dec. #1-Dustin Kilgore (Kent St.), 8-5
1st Period: Quentin scored early off an underhook. Kilgore came back with a nice level change. 3-3.

2nd Period: Wright starts down. Gets an escape early. Q had what looked like two on the edge. It was challenged, but the call was upheld. 4-3.

3rd. Period. Kilgore escapes, ties it up. Quentin then goes on the assault with two more takedowns in a :20 second span. 8-6 with :45 seconds left. That score holds.

Team Race: Penn State locks up their third national title. 


HWT:  #2-Tony Nelson (MINN) dec. #5-Mike McMullan (NW), 5-2
1st Period: McMullan was in on a low ankle shot but couldn’t finish before it was stalemated. Then Nelson was close to a score on the edge. He worked on it for over :30 and eventually converted. It was challenged but upheld. McMullan earned an escape just before the period ended. 2-1.

2nd Period: Nelson escaped early. McMullan was in on a similar low single but again couldn't finish. 3-1

3rd Period: McMullan earned an escape. Nelson later countered an active McMullan for a 5-2 win and his second straight NCAA title.


125:  #2-Jesse Delgado (Illinois) dec. #4-Nico Megaludis (Penn St.), 7-4
1st Period: Nico was in on a deep shot that turned into a funky position before it was eventually stalemated. Nico got in again and looked to have a sure takedown but Delgado somehow eluded it. Scoreless.

2nd Period: Delgado earned an escape in :13. Stalling warning on Delgado with about :30 left.

3rd Period: Nico got out quick and immediately was in on a shot, but Delgado came out the back door and locked up a cradle. It was 6-2 when Nico fought his way out with :40 left. Nico got a TD and cut Delgado, but that was it.


133:  #1-Logan Stieber (Ohio St.) dec. #2-Tony Ramos (Iowa), 7-4
1st Period: Ramos looked aggressive through the first half of the period, but Stieber powered through two shots to end the frame 4-1.

2nd Period: Stieber escaped quickly. Ramos got in on a lightening quick Hi-C and when Stieber front rolled, Ramos locked up a cradle. Stieber eventually escaped, and the Hawkeye staff challenged that there were nearfall, but it was upheld.

3rd Period: 6-3 going to the third and Ramos took bottom. Stieber went over RT. Ramos got out and cut the deficit to 2. Ramos really pushing the pace and got in on a deep inside single, but time ran out.


141: #2-Kendrick Maple (OU) dec. #4-Mitchell Port (EDIN), 4-3
1st Period: Maple scored within the first minute on a drag to a single. He then racked up a minute and a half RT before Port escaped. 2-1.

2nd Period: Maple took down. Port cut RT to under a minute before Maple escaped to make it 3-1.

3rd Period: Port went underneath and RT was back. Maple wasn't doing much on top and was dinged with a SW at 1:11. Maple then cut him at :53 to make it 3-2, RT locked. Port pushed the pace, but the stall point was academic.


149:  #1-Jordan Oliver (OK St.) dec.  #2-Jason Chamberlain (BSU), 3-2
1st Period: Oliver was in on an ankle pick at the 1:00 mark but Chamberlain kicked loose. He wa later in on a wrap arm but unable to convert. Scoreless.

2nd Period: Oliver went underneath and escaped within ten seconds. The rest of the period was inactive.

3rd Period: Chamberlain down. He escaped quickly as well. Tied at 1. Oliver hit a quick little shuck in the waning moments for a 3-2 win and his second NCAA title.


157:  #2-Derek St. John (Iowa) dec. #1-Jason Welch (NW), 3-2
1st Period: Most of the action was half shots from the outside. No serious scoring threats for either guy.

2nd Period: Welch took bottom. He was active and close to getting out, but DSJ was riding tough and regained position each time. He rode out the entire period.

3rd Period: DSJ down. Welch nearly had NF from a crab position which was reviewed but upheld. Just after the restart, Welch was dinged for locked hands. DSJ earned an escape while he still had RT, but Welch came guns blazing and hipped into St. John for the takedown. RT went under 1 minute. When DSJ escaped, it made it 3-2 with around :30 left. DSJ got in on a shot for a near takedown. he didn't get it, but it ate up the clock.


165: #1-Kyle Dake (Cornell) dec. #2-David Taylor (Penn St.), 5-4
1st Period: Taylor ankle pic off the whistle for a quick two. Dake nearly had a reversal, but it was just ruled an escape. Dake got a head inside single and came up through the middle for the score at the end of the period. 3-2.

2nd Period: Dake earned a quick escape. 4-2.

3rd Period: Taylor repeatedly got to his feet, but Dake, like always, was great at mat returns. Dake was hit for stalling at :42. Dake went over RT at :33. Taylor E1 with :19. Dake hit again for SW. Out of bounds with :03. Dake wins on RT.
