The Basics
The No. 2 Oklahoma State wrestling team (17-1 overall; 3-0 Big 12) hosts the Big 12 Dual Finals and Big 12 tournament March 8-9 at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys face West Virginia in the dayÂ’s first dual at 11 a.m. CT Friday. They will square off against Iowa State at 1 p.m. and will engage in their second Bedlam dual of the season at 7 p.m. The individual tournament will take place on Saturday with the action beginning at 5 p.m.

Friday and Saturday nightÂ’s matches will be aired live on 93.7 KSPI FM radio in Stillwater with Roger Moore on the call. The audio stream can also be heard live on okstate.tv, but a subscription is required to listen online.

Cowboys Return Two Big 12 Champions
Oklahoma State returns two Big 12 individual champions from last year in Jordan Oliver and Chris Perry. Oliver is chasing his fourth title while Perry seeks his second conference title.

Senior Salutes
Friday night marks the last time for five seniors to wrestle in dual competition at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Joe Ali, Chris Chionuma, Tommy Diaz, Alan Gelogaev and Jordan Oliver will be recognized prior to FridayÂ’s dual against Oklahoma.

Excellence in the Classroom
Six Cowboys were named to the Academic All-Big 12 wrestling team this week. Chris Chionuma and Chris Perry were first team honorees, while Joe Ali, Tommy Diaz, Alex Dieringer and Jordan Oliver were second team selections.

Smith On National Committee
One of the faces of the sport, both in the college ranks and worldwide, Oklahoma State coach John Smith is one of 18 people serving on the Committee for the Preservation of Olympic Wrestling (CPOW). The committeeÂ’s mission is to ensure that wrestling remains as a core sport of the Olympic Games.

Death Row
Cowboy wrestlers between 149-285 pounds strike fear into the hearts of their opponents. Not only have the seven of them collectively earned 159 wins this season, but 96 of those wins came with bonus points attached for a 60.3 percent bonus-point win percentage. The group has recorded 49 wins over ranked opponents this season. 

OliverÂ’s Place In OSU History
Senior Jordan Oliver is one of 36 Oklahoma State wrestlers all-time to win 100 career bouts. He enters the Big 12 dual finals with a 28-0 mark this year and a career record of 117-6. His win total ranks him 18th all-time at OSU, but his .951 career winning percentage is third all-time at OSU among wrestlers with at least 100 career wins, trailing only four-time NCAA champ Pat Smith (.960 pct) and Alan Fried (.955 pct).

Mission: Impossible
Through 28 matches this season, Jordan Oliver has not been taken down. The senior has recorded 70 takedowns.

Cowboys To Watch
The 2012-13 Oklahoma State wrestling roster is headlined by an NCAA champion, two-time NCAA finalist and three-time All-American in Jordan Oliver, an NCAA finalist in Tyler Caldwell and an NCAA third-place finisher in Chris Perry. Rounding out OSUÂ’s group of returning All-Americans is Alan Gelogaev, who was positioned to make a run at an NCAA title last season before sustaining a season-ending injury late last year.

Under The Radar
He may not have the high national profile of some of his teammates, but observers would be wise to remember the name of OSU freshman 157-pounder Alex Dieringer. Dieringer enters the conference championships toting a 26-2 overall record that includes six wins over ranked opponents and 17 bonus-point wins. One of his two lone setbacks came at the hands of top-ranked Derek St. John of Iowa.

Caldwell Finding A Groove
After a rocky patch of the schedule in which he lost three of six bouts (granted two of the three losses came at the hands of No. 1 Kyle Dake and No. 2 David Taylor, respectively), Tyler Caldwell has regained his rhythm late in the season, rattling off 13 straight wins heading into the Big 12 dual finals. Of those 13 wins, eight came over ranked opponents.

Caldwell Knows Bedlam
Cowboy junior Tyler Caldwell is a rare breed in that he has worn the colors of both Oklahoma State and its traditional in-state rival, Oklahoma. Caldwell was a two-time All-American and 2011 NCAA finalist for the Sooners before taking an Olympic redshirt during the 2011-12 season. Following that season away, he made the decision to enroll at Oklahoma State. Should he earn All-America status at OSU, he would become the first wrestler since Dave Schultz to be an All-American for both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Schultz placed third at the 1978 NCAA Championships wrestling for the Cowboys, then went on to earn a pair of All-America honors for the Sooners in 1981 and 1982, respectively.

Oliver Makes the Move
After winning the 2011 NCAA title and three career All-America honors at 133 pounds, senior Jordan Oliver now wrestles at 149 pounds. The move puts Oliver at a weight class that is more natural for him and was borne in part out of OliverÂ’s desire to compete at 145 pounds on the international freestyle level.

OliverÂ’s 2012 Olympic Experience
Jordan Oliver spent the summer of 2012 as a training partner for Olympic bronze medalist (and current OSU volunteer assistant) Coleman Scott. Oliver was embedded with Team USA as it prepared for the Olympics in Colorado clear through the London games.

PerryÂ’s In Position
Coming off a season that saw him pick up his second Big 12 championship in as many tries and a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships, Chris Perry is among the favorites to win the NCAA 174-pound title this year. In fact, Perry was the only wrestler on the OSU roster to be ranked No. 1 in the nation at his respective weight class entering this season.

Pin Pals
Each year, the Schalles Award is presented to the nationÂ’s most prolific pinner. There is a college version of it and a high school version of it and in 2012, Oklahoma State swept both divisions. Jordan Oliver won the collegiate Schalles Award by pinning 18 opponents and Jordan Rogers won the high school version after pinning all 42 of his opponents during his senior season at Mead HS in Spokane, Wash.

Wrestling With Degree In Hand
Cowboy 184-pounder Chris Chionuma has already earned his undergraduate degree in education and is now working on a post-graduate degree. He is the only member of OSU roster who already has his degree.

Signing Day Recap
Oklahoma State announced the signing of five wrestlers during the 2012 early signing period. The class is headlined by a pair of wrestlers ranked No. 1 in the nation in their respective weight classes in 152-pounder Anthony Collica (Solon, Ohio/Solon) and 132-pounder Dean Heil (Strongsville, Ohio/St. Edward). Three-time Oklahoma high school state champion Davey Dolan (Berryhill, Okla./Berryhill) and three-time Kansas high school state champion Zac Gentzler are joined by two-time Oklahoma state runner-up Eli Hale in rounding out the class.
