The two teams generally considered the best in New Jersey this year tangled in an early season dual. Bergen Catholic led after 10 bouts, but South Plainfield closed the door, winning the last four.

145: Troy Heilmann, SP wbf. Laurien Angelina, BC 3:00
Heilmann TD at end of first and rideout to finish period. 2-0 after
one. arm bar and wrist pick.. ran it for the fall.

SP leads 6-0


152: Dylan Painton, SP tf David Brennan, BC 17-2
Painton with TD to crossface cradle. Up 7-0 after one with another set
of backs. Reversal and 2 TDs followed by some tilts to register TF.

SP leads 11-0


160: Joe Grello, BC major Jordan Handwerger, SP 17-4.
Freshman Grello bumped up from 145 and took it to sophomore
Handwerger. Multiple TDs and turns for the major.

170:  Inan Sikel, SP wbf. Kevin McGilligan, BC 5:45
McGilligan with the inital TD in 1st along with rideout to go into 2nd
2-0. Stall point and rideout for sikel in 2nd 2-1. 3-1 after
MCgilligan cuts Sikel. Sikel with a TD and turn via power half for the
fall with under :30 left in match

182: Johnny Sebastian, BC wbf. Colin Lynch, SP :33
Headlock for the fall first 30 seconds. 17-10

195: Luigi Gerardi, SP dec Connor O'Brien, BC 6-5
O'Brien with initial TD, reversed by Gerardi 2-2 after 1. Reversal to
start 2nd for Gerardi, penalty point for grabbing singlet. late escape
for Obrian 4-4 into the 3rd. Escape O'Brien and Gerardi with TD :30
left to win 6-5.

220: Christian Jenco, BC md. Tory Russell, SP 8-0
Jenco with a TD in first and reversal in 2nd. TD early in 3rd and 2nd
stall point awarded under 10 sec left for 8-0 maj.

285: Carmine Goldsack, BC tf Tyler Calderone, SP 17-2
Bunch of TDs for Goldsack coupled with multiple stall points against Calderone.

20-19 SP


106: Nick Suriano, SP md Ryan Walsh, BC 18-6
Suriano took Walsh down at will. Wasn't able to turn him. Wasted alot
of time on top to dismay of his coaches. Coasts to a major but BC
bench wanted 6.

23-20 BC


113: Tyler Casementi, BC dec. Dan Hedden, SP 4-3
Scorless 1st. Hedden in deep on a single but stalemated. Escape and TD for
hedden in 2nd. Rode casamenti out but got stall warning. Escape for
Casamenti in the 3rd not before a stall point was awarded and
Casementi gets in deep on low double and finishes with under 15
seconds left.

26-20 BC


120: Ray Jazikof, SP dec. Matt Rose, BC 5-2
Jazikof with TD in first 2-1 end of 1. Escape and TD for Jaz 5-1 after 2.
Escape for Rose and that's how it ends.

126: Corey Stasenko, SP tf. Troy Shaafsma, BC  23-8
Lopsided bout and Stasenko gets TD at the buzzer to complete the TF.

132: Scott Delvecchio, SP wbf.  J.P. Acolese, BC 3:44
2 TD for Delvecchio in 1st, 4-1. Looking upper body whole time. He wanted to
finish this one early. Throws a headlock on edge of the mat finishes
it off.

138: Anthony Ashnault, SP  wbf.  Danny Delorenzi, BC, :20
Near side cradle :20 in.

Notes:
It got a bit hectic in here. 1500 plus attendance: it
was a great atmosphere.
Sikel's pin up a weight at 170 was huge. As was Gerardi's win at 195
after BC decided to bump Jenco.
Casamenti and Hedden was good bout. Would have been alot more
interesting had the upper weight bouts fell a bit differently.
The Romanian came in with a ton of type. Hung tough on his
feet with Heilman most of 1st. Looked confused on bottom and Heilmann is TOUGH with that bar.
Delvecchio and Ashnault did what they do.
