Throughout the season, Brute will bring you its National Wrestler of The Week. Wrestlers can be from any age level and will be selected based on their performances from the previous week only.

This week’s honor goes to Andrew Alton of Penn State who posted five falls and a major decision en route to winning the Nittany Lion Open on Sunday. It's Alton’s first action of the season after dealing with a tweaked ankle. He redshirted last season, and had 30 wins, 18 of them falls, as a true Freshman in the 2010-2011 season.

Other candidates that were considered this week:

Logan Stieber, Ohio State -  had four falls and a major in route to his second Las Vegas tournament championship.

Josh Llopez, Ryken, Md. - Outstanding Wrestler at the Ray Oliver Tournament with a finals win over fellow Fargo finalist, Myles Martin.

Mason Beckman, Lehigh -  with his Nittany Lion Open title, collected his third tournament crown this season.

James Fleming, Clarion - first he collected his 100th career win earlier in the day. Then he defeated Penn State’s Dylan Alton, a returning 3rd place finisher at last year’s NCAA’s, to take the Nittany Lion Open title.
