OSU Wrestling Releases 2012-13 Schedule

 

Seven home dates with two nationally ranked opponents highlight the season’s schedule, OSU will also host National Duals

 

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State wrestling team has officially released its schedule for the 2012-13 season and on it are seven home dates for the Beavers, including matchups with preseason No. 18 Michigan and No. 21 Boise State.

 

OSU enters the New Year ranked ninth in the D1 College Wrestling pre-season poll, with a total of seven different wrestlers garnering national rankings, including returning All-Americans Mike Mangrum and Scott Sakaguchi.

Jim Zalesky’s club unofficially kicks off the much anticipated new season with an intrasquad match on Nov. 7 at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers then host Michigan, Nov. 16 but do not compete at Gill Coliseum until 2013 when they host Boise State on Jan. 5.

 

In between those two home events, Oregon State will take part in a number of different road duals, including matchups with Boise State Nov. 24 (in Spokane, Wash.), Minnesota (Dec. 8) and North Dakota State (Dec.9).

The Beavers will also be traveling to four invites and opens during that stretch of time including the Mike Clock Open (Nov. 11), the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite (Nov. 30-Dec. 1), as well as the Reno Tournament of Champions (Dec. 16) and Midlands (Dec. 29-30).

 

Following Boise State’s trip to Corvallis, OSU will host Stanford on Jan. 19, Cal State Bakersfield on Feb. 2, followed by Cal Poly and Arizona State on Feb. 8 and 9. Gill Coliseum will also be the host of National Duals featuring Oklahoma, Michigan and Virginia Tech on Feb. 17. Oregon State competed at the National Duals in Ames, Iowa last season, going 1-1.

 

The final slate of road duals for Zalesky and his squad come in the form of Air Force (Jan. 11), Wyoming (Jan. 13), Lehigh (Jan. 26) and Cornell (Jan. 27).

 

Following the completion of the regular season OSU will shift its focus to the Pac-12 Championships on March 2 in Tempe, Ariz., and then the NCAA Championships which will be held in Des Moines, Iowa from March 21-23.

 

Tickets to home Beaver wrestling events can be purchased online by going to beavertickets.com or by calling 1-800-GO-BEAVS. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Oregon State ticket office inside Gill Coliseum, which is open from 9a.m. – 5p.m., Monday through Friday.
