what about BTW Burnett Trained Wrestling winning the North Allegheny Young Guns tournament? 15 placers 7 champs. NAYG 7 placers 2 champs. If you look at the BTW club and see who has came through there? Logan and Hunter Stieber, Cam Tessari, Jamie Clark, Chris Phillips, Lance and Collin Palmer just to start.
Vince Turk won his titles for the Wizards thats correct but as far as off season clubs go hes was going down to Sheridan for years and working with Nathan Martinez whos also a great technician
it wasn't an oversight. i had Oak Park at #4 before pulling them out b/c, quite honestly, i didn't know about the # of kids outside of the OPRF training there (other than that Kevon went there sometimes).the list generate a good amount of discussion, so i figure i'll take recommendations into account and update periodically.
I didn't know all the stats off the top off my head and didn't feel like looking them up... glad you did. What I do know is that Willie/Flo had a major oversight when putting this list together.I also know last year Illinois had 4 kids competing on the Fila Cadet World Team. All 4 were from that La Flama Blanca/whatever they were calling themselves last year club. Nuff said, cause that alone should have them at or near the top of any list of best clubs. Coach Powell and Coach Medlin undoubtedly run the best club in Illinois and arguably the country at the high school level.Best part about it other than the great coaching/practice partners is that the off season club costs like $60-$80 (I don't remember exactly) a year which is a far cry from the $900-$2000/yr that some other clubs in Illinois are charging. Talk about getting the best bang for your buck!
ATWA= 337 National ChampionsATWA= 1500 All AmericansATWA= 61 NY State ChampionsAnyone else come close?
Legends of Gold out of Beresford South Dakota needs to be considered in the top 10. They have a great group of kids an awesome coaches.
Illinois:Overtime is overrated. Overtime used to be top notch but have been on a steady decline the last few years. There are some great wrestlers training there still but that place is not top 2 in the state let alone top 2 in the country."he turned one of his JV wrestlers into a Fargo Runner-Up."Izzy does do some great things with the kids over there but don't get it twisted. The "JV" wrestler you speak of wasn't just some nobody here in Illinois. Vincent Turk was a great wrestler before he enrolled at Montini and would have started on 99% of the teams in the country. Last season he was a freshman stuck behind Jordan Laster (2x state placer/fargo aa), Kevon Powell (4x state placer/3x state finalist/1x state champ/multiple fargo aa/fargo junior champ) and Michael Sepke (state placer/USA nationals aa). Going from "JV" to fargo champ (not runner up) was more a result of not having to wrestle off the 3 kids above in a folkstyle match to get that stop sign than improvements under Izzy.The best "club" in Illinois is run out of OPRF by the best coach in Illinois, Mike Powell. Some Montini wrestlers have actually trained there in the off season (Namely the 3 that Turk was stuck behind). The club changes names every year (La Flama Blanca, Kenny Powers WC, Count Dante's Inferno....) for comedic relief but is known as the "Oak Park" club within the state. Bryan Medlin out of Washington HS also does a great job of training kids out of the southern faction of the club. La Flama Blanca dominated the in state tournaments this offseason going head up against Izzystyle/OvertimeI'm an Izzy fan, but he aint no Mike Powell.In Illinois its1) Mike Powell's club2) Izzy Style3) OvertimeCheck the results:http://www.trackwrestling.com/freestyletournaments/VerifyPassword.jsp?tournamentId=123071http://www.trackwrestling.com/freestyletournaments/VerifyPassword.jsp?tournamentId=14475009
The top club in CA last year was Selma -- there loaded and should have a pipeline for the next decade coming through to the HS ranks -- also have Pena, Lozano, Mendoza and Cisneros all at the d1 level. Remember names like Ramos, Cruz, Lei, Luchao, Mendoza, Figueroa, Sepulveda, Areyano and about twenty or thirty other horses. Coach Ramos and the rest of the Selma staff have giftwrapped a dynasty for Slammin Sammy Lopez at the HS level

C.I.A. Wrestling should be Top 10. They are developing alot of D1 Talent... in Indiana. Not a traditional wrestling powerhouse.
Quest had a High Scool team wrestle this summer at the RRWC summer duals and it looks like they will be wrestling there in the fall duals here in the next few weeks. There is video on here of them wrestling this summer on here.
Jim Akerlys Quest wrestling school trumps Young Guns. Half the guys who wrestle in tourneys or duals for young guns have never practiced there a day in there life. Willie likes to think he knows but really doesnt have a clue. Willie Ill help you out. Maybe you have heard of a couple of these guys from Quest McCutcheon, Weircioch, Chishko, Kemerer, Mathews, Schram just to name a few. Do your homework!!
tell em Matt -- Timberlane tried and true :) just an FYI Willy there really isnt a club system in CA yet but Wrestling Prep, CA Extreme and a few other clubs are training kids from their region. But as far as programs from k-12 Clovis Wrestling Club, The Empire, USA Pounders, Oakdale, Gilroy Hawks, The Drillers, and Poway wrestling would all give any of the clubs being named here a pretty tough go at it.
all good suggestions.Ben - i did look at Champions WC. i should probably have them on HMWeaver Elite is predominately BECA kids.RedHawk is great for youth-JR HS, but they don't really have HS kids to my knowledge.Shamrock is a great club. i just wasn't sure of its status with Coach Green moving to PA.
Champions in Utah, Fox Valley Elite in Wisconsin, Izzy Style & Overtime in Illinois, PINnacle in Minnesota, Nxt Level in Michigan, Red Cobra in Indiana, Scorpions in Jersey. Monster Garage in Cali, Purler & Eirman Elite in Mizzou. Just to name a few very talented clubs in the country. All working on the future of USA Wrestling.
Check out Champions Wrestling Club in Utah, multiple Fargo, Virginia Beach, School Boy Champions and AAs.Not to mention, it is the biggest Club in the United States.
Triumph isn't north jersey, but if you want to just group all the busy nj clubs you have to mention elite and shore thing in that grouping you have at #6
Willie, you should be ashamed! Where is the love for Mr. Ciasulli and the Red Hawk Wrestling Club. they've churned out talent including Jordan Oliver, Kellen Russell, Zach Horan, Mike McMullan, Rob Preston, Hudson Taylor, Mitch Minotti. Where's the hometown love?
samson out of ohio always tough had a bad year this year but took 4th prior to this year in 2011
