Woiwor To Iowa State
Willie Saylor, Editor

Iowa State hopped on the recruiting train late Sunday night with their first recruit for the Class of 2013.

Former Minnesota State Champ, Daniel Woiwor, will join the Cyclone Nation next fall.

Woiwor, ranked #14 at 160lbs, wrestles for perennial power, Apple Valley. He was a State Champion as a Freshman, Runner-Up as a Soph, and is a 3x State placewinner.

Woiwor appears on our Senior Class Big Board as one of the Top 100 recruits in the country.

We had the opportunity to hear about Daniel's decision in his own words.

WS: Why did you choose ISU?

DW: It was the best fit for me. I liked the direction they are going with the program and my family and I felt like it was the best place for me to succeed not only as a wrestler, but as a student as well.

WS: What is your relationship like with the coaches and wrestlers there?

DW : My relationship with them is great. I visited a few times and loved the 'brotherhood' type of mentality they had going on there. I already feel like I am close to the whole team!

WS : What other schools were you considering?

DW : I was very interested in the University of Minnesota, Old Dominion University and Arizona State University.

WS : You wrestled 'up' a lot for the sake of the team last year. What weight will we see you at this year, and what weight do you see yourself in college?

DW : Yeah I did that for the team because winning a team championship is ALWAYS the ultimate goal. But next year you will see me at 160, maybe 152 for the team, but my projected college weight is 157/65.

WS : What might you like to major in?

DW : My plan is to major in chemical engineering, then minor in business. I love my math and chemistry!!

WS : Anything else you like to say?

DW : I just want to thank my Mom and Dad for helping me with this decision. And anyone who wants to rip on me for moving, can pay for my college tuition and fees with their own money if they would like to. I'm doing what is best for me and my family, whom I love very much. Also, watch out for Maolu Woiwor in the future!!

On behalf of Flowrestling, congratulations to The Woiwors, and to The Apple Valley and Iowa State Cyclone Wrestling Communities.
