Pirozhkova Out

Elena Pirozhkova, a 2010 World Silver medalist, has been eliminated from competition.

 

She lost her opening round bout to Latvia’s Anastajia Gregorjeva who subsequently lost in the quarterfinals to former World Champion Battsetseg Soronzonbold of Mongolia.

 Good start, bad middle, bad end. Elena Pirozhkova (63kg) scored from front head and on a straight single in the first period. But it was all downhill after that.

 

Pirozhkova lost 2-0, 0-5, 0-2 to Latvia’s Anastajia Grigorjeva in a match in which she seemed to fade down the stretch.

 

Grigorjeva scored a pushout with an overhook to open the second period and it was all her after that.

 

In the third, Elena gave up position twice on double overhooks and got pushed  out.
