Watch out for Kanen Storr from Leslie, MI. Freshman Divison 3 state champ and 55-0 at 103. DNP at FILA's though he had Lee first round and then Fix. Also watch out for Ian Parker from Saint Johns, MI. Freshman Division 2 Runner- Up at 103 to Joe Garcia from Adrian, MI although Parker was 44-4 despite their tough and grueling schedule. Garcia was 47-1 as a Junior and Divison 2 State Champ as a Junior. Watch out for those 3 at 106 or 113!
Brown dnp'd at Flonats. he also just lost to diakomihalis at pop and flo who also dnp'd at flonats.
I think two of the best kids in the weight are Lee from PA & Fix from OK... Both 8th graders!!! Everybody Knows what Lee has done but after a little research I noticed that Fix is fairly new on the scene. He has wins over #4 Moody from OK this year at the Oklahoma Open, & in the past has wins over #7 Red, #9 Hong & #14 Mueller. From what I hear Fix started out focusing on freestyle and really didn't get started wrestling folk style until the last couple years. Would like to see Suriano, Lee & Fix get it on!!!!!! Good Luck to all the kids in all the weight classes!!!
i got my eye on bloom. truth is, a ton of PA AAA qualifiers could be right there with the top 20 nationally.but from a rankings perspective, bloom dnp'd in hershey, where curry and klump did well
Willie...how about bloom from PA, beat hong, placed in front of McCoy and lost by a late takedown and a riding point 4-3 to curry
I wish I could see #2 Pletcher wrestle #1 Suriano it would be a great match and these guys have been at the top of 106 all year yet they never got to wrestle each other. Pletcher could definitely win that match after all he was #1 in flonationals, PA states, and Powerade.
crazy that two 8th graders from PA would both be in the top 10 if they were eligible. (Lee, Hong)
olson didn't place in either style last year at fargo at 100lbs. i know of know wins he has vs. ranked opponents to prove a rankings.
Olson better than Watson?? thats pretty funny since Watson has beaten guys this year that Olson lost to and I seriously doubt Watson will be making 106 again, or even 113, or will be going to Rocky Mountain.
People I would trust say Trent Olson from Wyoming is far better than Trent Watson. Hopefully they meet at Rocky Mountain Nationals in a few weeks.
Garrett Pepple of Indiana just took second at State losing to Chad Red in the finals 4-0. He has a win over Hellickson at Folkstyle Nationals last April.
Garrett Pepple took 2nd at state in Indiana. He lost to Red 4-0 in the finals. He has a win over Hellickson at Folkstyle Nationals last year.
speaking of the PAWR rankings did CM Brendon Price get a thought when you did the last update?
Willie, when you update the PAWR rankings, Curry has a 5-0 win over Sheehan in a HS match from the Shippensburg S32 qualifier.
Good Wrestler - that has to be, simultaneously, the most specific and yet cryptic rankings question i was ever asked.bravo.honestly, im not sure. i'd have to know the names and see the entire picture.
Keystone State - i do the PA rankings for PAWR. i intend on updating them Thursday.
willie, what would happen if the two best wrestlers in pennsylvania at a weight were on the same team, and they had to wrestle off, best 2 out of 3, the results being 2-1, 3-2 (2OT), and 2-2 in UTB? and the winner for the spot goes on to win the state title with no matches that close? If the loser went on to win flonationals, how would you view him credential/ranking wise?
why is assad still top 5 inf anything maybe top 10 but put mueller in as a top 5 he beat assad at ironman
Willie - is Jarrett Reisenbichler from MO on your HM list? He is ranked #1 in MO 4A and place second last year at 100 lbs Folkstyle nationals. He beat Silva 8-4 who is ranked on this list at #8. Other wins at folkstyle nationals were against Bruno - FL, Guffey - OK, and Pohlmeyer - IA. I think he went 4-2 at Super 32 also.
Willie, Thanks for the comments on Kyler Rea. He will probably spend the rest of the season at 13 for team points, then drop back to 106 for districts and state.
Kyler Rea of Neosho, Missouri lost to Moody in the finals at KCI last month 3-1. They used to be wrestling partners at Collinsville during youth wrestling. This was the first time they have wrestled in high school since Kyler is a freshman and currently ranked 1 in 3A in Missouri. The last two times prior to KCI they split wins at Rollers Kickoff where Moody won 1-0, then 2 months later Rea won at USJOC 1-0. Rea has won numerous Roller events and Bill Gosset events. He might be considered in the top 20 as well.
Has Watson beat a ranked wrestler on this list? Muller has beat several including #3 Assad. I agree, Mueller was wrestling 94 last year and was small at FILA's 101.25. Mueller has a very strong history of success over the last 2-3 years at national level tournaments with wins against many ranked wrestlers.
fair pts re: watson. perhaps i put him too high. he was ranked prior to PSN at 106. i feel he belongs in there somewhere.as far as Brown, he's an interesting case. he got handled by olsen at S32, but just beat Mackall. tough spot to be. i went with recency.
care to provide an example? i doubt it. there's a reason they are where they are.
Willie is not throwing darts. If you have followed the first 10-12 national tournaments you would agree with these rankings for the most part. There will always be some debate but the rankings are pretty accurate.Pletcher is HM from 113 and was ranked top 4 at 106 around Super 32 time. Now that he is back to 106, he is deserving of his high ranking. I think the ther HM's should be in the bottom 5 to start. I wouldn't argue with the rankings but they should both be after Mueller. Muller got 2nd at PSN and 5th at Ironman beating Assad. In my opinion, Watson and Brown should not be ahead of him at this time.

yes, perhaps Watson is too high. he was ranked at 106 at one pt before going up to 113.i'll re-examine next week.
pletcher wrestled KOM at 113, so he was evaluated there. he'll be 106 after this weekend.curry doesn't have any ranked wins as of now. starting with Ironhorse on (high school as opposed to JR High), he hasn't beaten any ranked foes, DNP'd at S32 and went 2-2 with losses to Suriano and Luke Karam at IHI.
probably, but you can't make a blanket statement like "if he places high in these two tournaments he will be ranked".not a guarantee. even if we're talking about PA states, FloNats, Fargo, S32, etc.have to see his head-to-heads
